Dr Janjira Sombatpoonsiri discusses her new book project Digital Repression and Civil Resistance with Roland Bleiker. The conversation ranges from how digital technologies shape the interaction between domination and resistance in Thailand to the role of humour in protest movements around the world.

Janjiara is a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies in Hamburg and Assistant Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Her research examines nonviolent activism in the context of democratisation. She is the author of Humour and Nonviolent Struggle in Serbia (Syracuse University Press).
