Located in the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland., the Visual Politics Research Program explores how visuals, including photographs, television, film, social media, art, and performance, influence how we perceive and deal with political phenomena.

Over the past dozen years we have organised more than 100 events that bring together researchers from fields as diverse as political science, art history, film and television, international relations, Indigenous studies, peace and conflict, museum studies, English literature, development, psychology, media and communication, journalism, anthropology, computer science and philosophy.

Our events include discussions on new books, PhD in progress presentations, roundtables, workshops, and exhibitions. Events are often held in-person and online. Some of these events are available on the Visual Politics YouTube channel below.

The Program is currently coordinated by Roland Bleiker, Emma Hutchison, Bronte Bratton and Cormac Opdebeeck-Wilson. Past co-coordinators and co-hosts include Shreya Singh, Heloise Weber, Dhruba Adhikari, Terrell Carver, Federica Caso, Jamal Nabulsi and Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox.
